Plan FFCS the way you actually want.

Lattice is a free VIT FFCS timetable planner and generator for students in Vellore, Chennai, AP, Bhopal and Bangalore. Add your subjects, and it finds every clash-free timetable in milliseconds — then puts the ones that suit you first: fewest gaps, morning or evening classes, the teachers you want, and no classes before or after the times you choose.

Every clash-free timetable

Lattice doesn't hand you one "best guess". It generates every valid combination of your subjects' teachers and slots, with no two classes clashing — for the demo's five subjects, that's 19,638 timetables, ready in milliseconds. See the benchmarks.

Optimize: fewest gaps between classes

Turn on Optimize and Lattice ranks every timetable by real idle time between your classes, measured in minutes on VIT's actual slot timings. The most compact timetable comes first, and each one shows its total idle time.

Morning or evening classes

Choose Morning or Evening, and timetables with more of your theory classes in that session come first. Nothing is thrown away — if a subject can't fit your choice, you still get the closest match, and Lattice tells you which subject is the exception.

Pick multiple teachers per subject

Open a subject's Preferences and tick every teacher you're happy with — one, three, or ten. Lattice only builds timetables with those teachers for that subject. Long teacher lists have a search box, and you can also pin a theory or lab slot.

Start after, end by

Not a morning person? Set Start after (9 AM to 12 PM) and End by (4 PM to 7 PM). Timetables that fit your hours come first; if none fit perfectly, the closest one does, and Lattice tells you which subject has a class outside your hours.

How your choices combine

All of these work together, in a clear order — each only breaks ties left by the one before it:

  • 1. Your hours — least class time outside Start after / End by.
  • 2. Morning or Evening — most theory classes in your session.
  • 3. Optimize — fewest gaps between classes.

Example: Start after 10 AM, Morning, and Optimize on — you get timetables with nothing before 10 AM first; among those, the most morning theory; among those, the fewest gaps.

Adding your subjects

  • Add a subject with its code, name, and type (theory, lab, or both).
  • Paste its options as teacher, venue, and slot rows — straight from a spreadsheet.
  • Saved subjects are searchable, so you can add them back any time.
  • Not ready yet? Try with demo data loads five sample subjects to explore with.

Private, free, and works offline

  • No sign-in, and it never asks for your VTOP password.
  • Your subjects stay in your own browser — nothing is sent anywhere.
  • Install it like an app on your phone or laptop; once loaded, it works without internet.
  • The whole app is about 96 KB — see why that matters.

Questions

How do I avoid 8 AM classes in FFCS?

Generate your timetables in Lattice, then set Start after to 9 AM or 10 AM. Timetables with no classes before that time come first; if none fully fit, the closest match comes first and Lattice tells you which subject has an early class.

Can I choose more than one teacher for a subject?

Yes. In a subject's Preferences, tick every teacher you're happy with. Lattice only builds timetables using those teachers for that subject. Leave all unticked for Any.

How do I get a VIT timetable with no gaps between classes?

Turn on Optimize. Lattice ranks every timetable by real idle time between classes, in minutes, so the most compact timetable comes first.

Can I keep my theory classes in the morning or evening?

Yes. Choose Morning or Evening, and timetables with more of your theory classes in that session come first.

Does Lattice need my VTOP password or a login?

No. Lattice has no sign-in and never asks for your VTOP password. Your subjects stay in your own browser and are never sent anywhere.

Is Lattice free? Does it work offline?

Lattice is free. You can install it like an app, and once loaded it works without internet.

Is Lattice an official VIT tool?

No. Lattice is an independent student project by Niranjan Nivas K and Pranav Nivas K, not affiliated with Vellore Institute of Technology. Always confirm your final choices on VTOP.
